Salisbury Steak au Poivre
w/ spinach, caramelized onions, & cheesy potatoes
SERVES 4 • OVEN, STOVETOP • 80 MINUTES
Step 1Preheat oven to 350° & prepare to cook on the middle rack. While oven is preheating, unpack all your “mise en place” (ingredients). Remove the plastic lids & temper your pans of salisbury steak & potatoes on the counter for 30 minutes before cooking.
Step 2Place the foil-covered pan of salisbury steak on a sheet tray in the oven. After 10 minutes, add the uncovered pan of potatoes to the sheet tray in the oven & continue to cook both pans for 30-40 minutes. You know your oven best; cook time may vary, but you're looking for both dishes to be completely heated through.
With a few minutes left of cooking, place the au poivre sauce in a saucepan on the stove & gently heat over medium-low heat until simmering.
Garnish the potatoes with herbs before serving. Serve hot salisbury steak atop caramelized onions & spinach. Pour desired amount of warm au poivre sauce over the top of the steak. Enjoy!
